Learning solfège can help with identifying the relationship between notes and help improve sight singing skills for any musician. In solfège, do is the first note of the scale, and the distance between syllables is the same in any key signature. In this video, Katie Barton provides an overview and tips for getting started with solfège.
Katie Barton has served in parish music ministry for 28 years at various parishes in Kentucky and Ohio. She is also the director and organist for the Diocesan Choir for the Diocese of Covington at the Cathedral Basilica and the director of choral activities at Northern Kentucky University where she conducts three choirs and teaches choral music education classes.
