Fifth Sunday of Lent – Cycle A

Prayer of the Faithful for the Fifth Sunday of Lent (Cycle A)

Lord, we believe you are the resurrection and the life.
Give your Church
the courage to live in the freedom of the children of God.
We pray to the Lord.

Living one,
Open the graves of all those numbed by addictions and pain,
Made lifeless by overwork and exhaustion,
Deaden by the quest for power, fame or money,
We pray to the Lord.

Open our ears to those who cry out in poverty,
Survive in the midst of war,
Abide in homelessness,
Struggle with prejudice and discrimination.
We pray to the Lord.

Send wisdom upon our hearts,
And valor in our actions.
Guide us to boldly proclaim truth to power and
justice for all whose voices are silenced.
We pray to the Lord.

From our Catechumens and Candidates, prune away all traces of sin.
Free them from all constraints of evil.
Unbind their hearts and let them go free.
We pray to the Lord.

Holy Spirit,
And breathe your spirit into this faith community
That we may discern your will and live your gospel
In this time and place.
We pray to the Lord.

God of the Living and the Dead,
May (insert names)
And all the dead share in the new life of resurrection.
We pray to the Lord.
