Commemoration of the Faithful Departed

All Souls Day

When suffering and pain overwhelm us
may the gentle care of the Church be our balm, solace and strength.
We pray to the Lord.

When world leaders make decisions,
may God’s word inspire them to bring about peace, not war;
love, not hate; justice, not oppression.
We pray to the Lord.

When we feel lost, alone, discouraged or confused,
may we find shelter in the loving arms of God.
We pray to the Lord.

When our family or friends pass from this world,
may our conviction in the resurrection sustain us and fill us with hope.
We pray to the Lord.

When people struggle to persevere in this life,
when food, shelter, and safety are threatened,
may people put aside prejudice and partisanship
and embrace generosity, compassion and empathy.
We pray to the Lord.

When greed destroys relationships,
when jealousy hardens hearts,
when bigotry and fear feed cruelty and brutality,
may the peace, love and power of the gospel challenge, conquer and heal our world.
We pray to the Lord.

When our loved ones are called from this life,
we remember (Insert names)
may their souls,
and the souls of all the faithful departed
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
We pray to the Lord.
