Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

God of Wisdom,
teach your church
that all who would be just, must also be kind.
We pray to the Lord.

Lord of Lords,
command leaders of nations, states and communities,
to judge with compassion and rule with clemency.
We pray to the Lord.

Holy Spirit, help us in our weakness,
and teach us to pray as we ought.
We pray to the Lord.

Healer of our every ill,
break the hold of racial prejudice which still binds us and blinds us.
Open our hearts to hear the truth of each other’s lives
and guide us to build a beloved community.
We pray to the Lord.

Lover of humanity,
may your love heal all who despair this day
because of bullying, neglect, grief, hunger, thirst
or the shroud of poverty. We pray to the Lord.
We pray to the Lord.

Prince of Peace,
mold us into people of peace.
May our anger arise only at injustice.
May our words breathe healing into wounded lives.
May we walk in patient hope in your power and promise.
We pray to the Lord.

May
(Insert names)
and all the dead
now rejoice in the New Jerusalem.
We pray to the Lord.
