Understanding the Basics of Nashville Notation

Nashville notation, also called the Nashville Number System, is a method for writing chord charts that relies on numbers instead of letters for the chords. Understanding the basics of Nashville notation can benefit ensemble musicians in a couple of ways. First, it enables musicians to easily play the song in any key from the existing notation. Second, it takes up much less space on a page than standard sheet music.
