Prayer of the Faithful for the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle B)
Though some see only distress and difficulty,
may the Church continue to praise the Lord
for the marvels of God’s wisdom and power,
We pray to the Lord.
Though days seem long and work tiresome,
may we continue to preach the gospel unceasingly,
We pray to the Lord.
Though evils of war, hunger and poverty
continue to assault our sisters and brothers throughout the world
may Christian love energize our actions to assist them,
We pray to the Lord.
Though fear seeks to destroy creativity and diversity
may our faith in Jesus liberate us
to live as true children of the Father,
We pray to the Lord.
Though power corrupts and leaders turn to selfishness and greed,
may the people of God unite
that justice will rule in our midst,
We pray to the Lord.
Though trials be difficult and burdens painful
May all we hold in prayer this day,
Know serenity, peace and courage
We pray to the Lord.
Though pain of illness tries both body and spirit,
may the sick and all who abide in the shadow of death,
experience the healing balm of Christ’s peace,
We pray to the Lord.
Though days may be swift, and our time in this world short,
may (insert names)
and all the dead be raised to newness of life in the kingdom,
We pray to the Lord.
