Feast of the Baptism of the Lord
As servants of the Lord,
may the Church be a light for the nations
and a people of comfort and compassion.
We pray to the Lord.
As the cold weather settles in,
May the houseless find shelter,
The jobless know employment
And the hungry be fed.
We pray to the Lord.
As war and terror persist,
As violence invades homes and hearts,
May peace prevail.
We pray to the Lord.
As refugees seek a home
And immigrants look for a homeland,
May hearts and laws be open to their plight.
We pray to the Lord.
As hatred and bigotry seek to spread,
Let us raise our voices in songs of hope, justice and acceptance,
And open our arms as one family united in love.
We pray to the Lord.
As we recall our own baptism,
May we recommit ourselves to prayer
And may our choices be directed by the Gospel we profess.
We pray to the Lord.
As those we love die,
