Conducting Basics for Ensemble Directors

Many liturgical ensemble directors, whether paid or volunteer, don’t have formal training in how to conduct an ensemble or choir. In this video, Steve Petrunak teaches conducting basics for ensemble directors, including patterns for four common key signatures, what to do with both hands, and how to use movement and facial expressions to really connect with your ensemble and confidently lead them in music making.

Steve Petrunak is a founding board member of CLEF and director of music at St. Blase Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
