Third Sunday of Advent (A)
Rouse your Church, O Emmanuel,
in your spirit let us strengthen the weak,
care for our poor
and bring hope to all trapped
in the snares of bitterness, anxiety or grief.
We pray to the Lord.
Awaken in our world an abiding longing for peace,
and a willingness to work for justice.
We remain mindful of the people of in Haiti, Ukraine,
the Holy Land, Sudan and all places where war and terror reign.
We pray to the Lord.
Patience, O Lord, is a gift we often lack.
Restore it in us, that we may listen, not judge,
and trust in your way above all else.
We pray to the Lord.
God of generosity, our sisters and brothers are deprived
food, warmth, shelter, employment, health care.
For them and for hearts open to them,
We pray to the Lord.
Teach us, O Wisdom, not to complain about one another.
guide us to care for each other in empathy and compassion.
We pray to the Lord.
Remove from our hearts dread and darkness.
may we rejoice in your love, truth and mercy
even as we work for and await your day when all will be made new.
We pray to the Lord.
We pray for our beloved dead,
