O Christ, your humbled yourself and became obedient even unto death,
Grant that your church may imitate your obedience,
That not our will but yours be done.

Command leaders of nations and communities
to put arrogance and vengeance aside
and work for peace with justice for all people.

that we may live together as one family without division or hatred.

You healed the people of Israel
when they looked upon the bronze serpent.
Heal all people from evil, pain and all that causes sin.

O Christ, you emptied yourself, taking the form of a servant
Teach us to serve others, especially our poor, immigrants, refugees
and all whom this world deems unimportant.
We pray to the Lord.
O Christ,
You were raised by the Father and given the name above all other names.
May we who bear the name “Christian”
reach out to our lonely and outcast,
proclaim liberty to captives, and be hope for all who live in despair and poverty.

Welcome our sisters and brothers
