Each morning and afternoon for those who are interested, registered Yoga instructor Joy Martin will be leading the Yoga class.
These are the types of Yoga classes that Joy will offer:
-Morning flow is a class of movement. It includes Vinyasa flows, sun salutations with some slower flows, and ends with Savasana.
-Chair yoga- yoga is done in and with the aid of a chair.
-Gentle/Restorative class is designed to slow and relax your body and mind. Great for an afternoon break. It also ends with Savasana/meditation/relaxation.
-Yin yoga comprises a series of long, slow stretches designed to reach deep into muscles and fascia and release tightness, easing the spirit while helping us focus on self-care.
Joy is the Director of Music and Liturgy at a tiny Catholic Church in rural Northwest Ohio. She plays guitar and leads Music there.
Joy started practicing yoga 11 years ago regularly for a hip issue and has continued since then. She became a 200-hour registered yoga instructor in 2017. “My primary interests for practice are Gentle yoga, Chair yoga, Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, and slow Vinyasa flow.
I am also a Nurse Practitioner, currently working at a free clinic and in Virtual Health. I find pain release, relaxation, calm, and communion with God and His Creation with yoga. I use yoga as a form of prayer and meditation. I love sharing the practice with anyone who wishes to participate and helping others to find that peace ‘which surpasses all understanding.’”

INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOGIS:
- CLASSES WILL START AND END ON TIME. IF YOU NEED TO WALK IN LATE, PLEASE DO SO SILENTLY/QUIETLY
- You may leave your mat and other props in the pavilion, but please roll/store mats so they are not in the way for the retreat sessions also being held in pavilion.
- Mat cleaner will be provided. Please spray mats after use.
- PLEASE NO CELL PHONES DURING YOGA AND MEDITATION SESSIONS
- BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME! THERE MAY BE SEVERAL EXPERIENCED YOGIS IN CLASS- NO NEED TO BE INTIMIDATED! MODIFICATIONS WILL BE PROVIDED!
- MEDITATIONS ARE CHRISTIAN ORIENTED. I AM A CATHOLIC.
YOU WILL NEED (Think Of These When Packing):
IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MATS AND PROPS (blocks, straps, small blankets) WITH YOU TO MILFORD. LIMITED QUANTITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR LOAN.
PACK AN EXTRA PILLOWCASE to bring to Milford so that YOU CAN USE YOUR BED PILLOW FOR A PROP DURING CLASSES AND FOR MEDITATION
WHAT WE WEAR:
-Ladies, bring yoga pants or loose-fitting long shorts or long loose pants and either an exercise top or a t-shirt or sleeveless shirt/tank.
-Gentlemen, shorts should be LONG to the knee or loose-fitting long pants. T-shirt or sleeveless shirt/tank.
